WONDERLAND

SNOW AND CHAOS

When a heavy snowfall reaches us in many parts of the country, it usually leaves a lot of chaos in its wake and quickly pushes people to their limits.

Despite the announcement, many people were surprised by the heavy snowfall. Many streets and alleyways were covered in snow. It was hardly possible, or only possible to a limited extent, to drive a car. Some cars could not be started at all or were simply stuck.

A SIMILAR EVENT IN 2019

I simply couldn't miss this event. Such heavy snowfalls were not very common in our region.

A similar situation occurred in January 2019. Back then, I went to the Kleve forest garden and found beautiful snow-covered motifs.

Here I show you some shots from the snowy Klever Forstgarten. These are one of the special shots that I really like. The moods in the picture are so magical and make me dream. You would like to be in these dreams and dream them for longer. Let yourself be enchanted and enjoy these special moments with me.

LOOKING FOR THE PICTURE!

This new weather event played out in a similar way and it is actually better to stay at home and help yourself to a hot drink, for example. At best, you should just look out of the window and enjoy the snow-covered landscape.

I did that too - well, almost.

Late in the evening (around 10 p.m.), I stood in our bedroom and looked out of the window. I watched the beautiful snow-covered landscape. It started snowing heavily all the time and it just didn't stop. Everything was covered in a blanket of snow and it just looked wonderful. While countless snowflakes fell from above, I thought about many different motifs and possibilities that I could capture with my camera.

The thoughts just wouldn't let go of me and the following sentence kept repeating in my head:

"What awesome pictures you could take now!"

Again, I also thought about whether the car was frozen and whether I could even get it to start? Nevertheless, I didn't have to think about it for long. I packed up my camera and tripod, shoveled the car free and drove carefully towards Klever Unterstadt! 😬

When I arrived, I couldn't find any people for miles around. I wasn't really surprised, but it still felt strange to be walking alone through the snow-covered lower town of Kleve.

Nevertheless, I quickly found my first motifs. There were many snow-covered and atmospheric, illuminated alleyways. Roofs covered in white or simply bright surfaces and buildings. Wherever you looked, there was snow everywhere. Simply atmospheric and beautiful!

I found a snow-covered bench, which I captured photographically. I probably wouldn't have been interested in it at all if it hadn't been covered in snow. The side streets also looked very interesting covered in snow and at night.

A little further on, I passed the Klever Kuckkucksplatz. The square and the steps were covered with a fine layer of snow and the branches of the trees looked like veins or vessels in this atmospheric situation.

I was also impressed by the Spoy Canal on this snowy night. I took my photos and enjoyed the light-filled silence and the reflections in the water.

Unfortunately, the evening also had its downsides. Although I was quite well wrapped up, the icy cold gradually got to me. My hands and feet slowly but surely started to freeze up. I kept trying as best I could to protect my hands and especially my fingers from the cold. But unfortunately, after a few hours it was simply unbearable and I realized that I should stop.

After about three hours, I was through with the session and satisfied with the raw material. I packed everything up and walked back to the car.

Friends, there was nothing worse than looking for the car keys 🥶.

When I finally got home, I made myself comfortable on the couch and treated myself to a hot chocolate, which was really good.

Despite the icy cold, it was a wonderful, successful and, above all, snowy night for me.

I look forward to more exciting events like this and until the next post.
